Why a conversational dashboard beats a static one
Most Google Ads dashboards are frozen in time the moment you build them. You wire up a spreadsheet or a BI tool, map the columns, fix the date ranges, and then spend the next quarter maintaining it. The second you want a new cut of the data, you are back in export-and-paste territory.
A dashboard built in Claude works differently. You describe what you want in plain language, Claude pulls the live numbers, and it assembles the view on demand. When you have a follow-up question, you just ask it, and the dashboard reshapes itself. There is no schema to maintain, no broken VLOOKUP, no waiting on an analyst. You get three things a static dashboard cannot give you:
Follow-ups on tap. See a spike in CPA and immediately ask which campaign caused it, without leaving the view.
Regeneration on demand. Pull the same dashboard for last week, last month, or a custom range with a single sentence.
Zero spreadsheet wrangling. The data comes straight from the Google Ads API through Commerce365, so it is always current and never copy-pasted.
Connecting Google Ads to Claude with Commerce365
Claude cannot see your ad account on its own. It needs a bridge, and that bridge is Commerce365's MCP server. MCP (Model Context Protocol) is the standard that lets Claude securely call out to your tools and data. Commerce365 exposes your connected accounts as a set of tools that Claude can use directly.
Getting set up takes a few minutes:
Install Commerce365 from the Shopify App Store. It is free to install.
In Commerce365, connect your Google Ads account through the integrations screen. The same flow works for Shopify, Klaviyo, Meta Ads, Google Analytics 4, and Google Search Console, so you can layer in more data sources later.
Add the Commerce365 MCP server to Claude (Claude Desktop, the Claude app, or any MCP-capable client). Commerce365 walks you through the connection and authorization.
Once connected, Claude can read your spend, conversions, and campaign performance live. You never paste an API key into a chat or hand around a CSV. The connection is authorized once and runs through Commerce365's secure layer.
Define the KPIs before you prompt
A good dashboard starts with knowing what you actually want to see. Before you open Claude, decide on the metrics that matter for your account. For most Shopify advertisers, the core set is:
Spend — total ad cost for the period.
ROAS — conversion value divided by spend, the headline efficiency number.
CPA — cost per acquisition or per conversion.
Conversions — purchases or whichever conversion action you track.
Top campaigns — your biggest spenders and best performers, ranked.
Week-over-week deltas — the change versus the prior period, so you see trends, not just snapshots.
The clearer you are about these up front, the better Claude's first draft will be. Think of it as a creative brief: you are telling Claude what good looks like.
Prompts that build and refine the dashboard
Here is where it gets fast. You build the dashboard by talking to it. Start broad, then refine. These example prompts assume Commerce365 is connected and Claude can reach your Google Ads data.
1. Build the overview.
"Build me a Google Ads dashboard for the last 30 days. Show total spend, ROAS, CPA, and conversions at the top as headline numbers, then a table of my top 10 campaigns by spend with ROAS and CPA for each."
2. Add the trend.
"Now add week-over-week deltas to every metric. For each KPI and each campaign, show the percentage change versus the previous 30 days, and flag anything that moved more than 20 percent."
3. Drill into a problem.
"My CPA went up this week. Which campaigns drove that increase, and how did their spend and conversion volume change?"
4. Reshape the view.
"Group the campaigns by type — Performance Max, Search, and Shopping — and give me blended ROAS and total spend for each group."
5. Add context from another source.
"Pull in Shopify revenue for the same period and compare it to my Google Ads conversion value. Where is there a gap between what Google reports and what actually landed as orders?"
6. Tighten it for a stakeholder.
"Summarize this into five bullet points a non-technical founder would understand, leading with the biggest win and the biggest concern."
Notice the pattern: each prompt builds on the last. You are not rewriting the whole request every time. Claude holds the context, so you can iterate the way you would with a teammate.
Save it as a recurring report or hand it to an agent
A dashboard you have to rebuild by hand every Monday is still work. Commerce365 closes that gap in two ways.
First, the built-in report builder lets you save a dashboard layout — your chosen KPIs, campaign breakdowns, and date logic — as a reusable report. Instead of re-prompting from scratch, you open the saved report and it regenerates against fresh data. On higher plans you can export the result to PDF for a clean, shareable file.
Second, and this is where Commerce365 goes beyond a chat window, you can hand the job to an autonomous agent. Commerce365 runs agents that monitor your connected data around the clock. You can set one to regenerate your Google Ads dashboard on a schedule — every Monday morning, say — and surface anything that needs attention. When an agent spots something worth acting on, like a campaign whose CPA has crept past your threshold, it proposes the action through an approval queue. You stay in control: nothing changes in your account until you approve it.
Export and share with stakeholders
Dashboards are only useful if the right people see them. Once you are happy with a view, you have a few clean handoff options. Export the saved report to PDF for a polished document you can drop into a board deck or send to a client. Ask Claude for the bullet-point summary version when all a stakeholder needs is the takeaway, not the table. Or keep the dashboard live in Commerce365 so your team can pull the current numbers themselves whenever they want, instead of pinging you for an export.
The point is that the data only gets entered once — through the connection — and flows out into whatever format the moment calls for. No re-keying, no version drift between the spreadsheet you sent on Monday and the truth on Wednesday.
Try it on your own account
Building a Google Ads dashboard used to mean a half-day of spreadsheet plumbing. With Claude and Commerce365 it is a conversation that takes a few minutes and stays current on its own. You connect once, prompt for the view you want, save it as a report, and let an agent keep it fresh.
Commerce365 is free to install from the Shopify App Store, and it connects Google Ads alongside Shopify, Klaviyo, Meta Ads, GA4, and Search Console. If you run ads for a Shopify store, connect your account and ask Claude for your first dashboard — you will see the difference on the first prompt.
