Why connect your ad platforms to an AI assistant
If you run paid acquisition on both Google Ads and Meta Ads, you already know the daily ritual: open one dashboard, export a report, open the other, line up the date ranges, and stitch the numbers together in a spreadsheet before you can answer a single real question. By the time you have a clean view, the day is half gone.
Connecting those platforms to an AI assistant like Claude changes the workflow. Instead of exporting and reconciling, you ask. You type a question in plain language and get an answer that pulls from live data across both channels at once. No tab-switching, no manual exports, no waiting on a weekly report. For mid-market merchants juggling multiple accounts and currencies, that shift turns a half-day analysis into a two-minute conversation.
The real unlock is cross-channel analysis. Google and Meta each report inside their own walled garden, with their own definitions and dashboards. An AI assistant that can see both at the same time lets you ask the questions that actually matter to the business, like where your next euro of spend should go, rather than the questions each platform happens to make easy.
MCP: the bridge between your ad data and Claude
Claude on its own cannot see your Google Ads or Meta Ads account. It needs a secure connection to your data, and that connection is built on a standard called MCP (Model Context Protocol). Think of MCP as a universal adapter: it exposes your store's data and actions as a set of tools that an AI client can call on demand.
Commerce365 runs an MCP server for your connected accounts. Once you point Claude at it, Claude can call tools to fetch live ad performance, campaign details, and spend figures whenever you ask, rather than working from a stale snapshot you pasted in. Because MCP is an open standard, the same connection works with Claude Desktop, the Claude app, ChatGPT, or any other MCP-compatible client. You set it up once and use it everywhere.
Importantly, Claude only pulls data when a question requires it. It is not silently siphoning your account in the background. Each tool call happens in response to something you asked, which keeps the whole flow transparent and easy to reason about.
Step 1: Install Commerce365 from the Shopify App Store
Commerce365 is the layer that connects your Shopify store and ad platforms to AI. Start by installing it from the Shopify App Store. It is free to install, so you can set everything up and see it working before deciding on a paid plan (Plus, Pro, or Max).
Open the Shopify App Store and search for Commerce365.
Click install and approve the connection to your Shopify store.
You will land in the Commerce365 dashboard, ready to add your other integrations.
Installing the app sets up your account and connects Shopify automatically. The next step is adding the ad platforms you want Claude to see.
Step 2: Connect Google Ads and Meta Ads
Inside Commerce365, go to the Integrations page. This is where you connect every platform Commerce365 supports, including Shopify, Klaviyo, Meta Ads, Google Ads, Google Analytics 4, and Google Search Console.
To connect Google Ads:
Click Connect next to Google Ads.
Sign in with the Google account that has access to your Ads account and approve the OAuth permission prompt.
If you manage more than one account, pick the one (or ones) you want to connect.
To connect Meta Ads:
Click Connect next to Meta Ads.
Log in with Facebook and authorize access to your ad account through the OAuth flow.
Select the ad account you want Commerce365 to read.
OAuth means you never hand over a password. You grant access through the platform's own secure login, and you can revoke that access at any time from Google or Meta directly. Once both platforms show as connected, their data is available to Claude through your MCP server.
Step 3: Connect the Commerce365 MCP server to Claude
Now connect Claude to your data. In Claude (Desktop or the app), open the connectors or integrations settings and add the Commerce365 MCP server using the server URL from your Commerce365 dashboard. You will be asked to sign in and authorize the connection once.
After it is authorized, Claude gains access to the full set of Commerce365 tools across every connected platform. There is no per-tool setup to manage and no allow-lists to maintain. From this point on, anything you connect in Commerce365 becomes available to Claude automatically. You are ready to start asking questions.
Step 4: Start asking questions
This is where the setup pays off. Open a chat with Claude and ask about your advertising the way you would ask a colleague. Here are concrete prompts to try once Google Ads and Meta Ads are connected:
"Compare ROAS across Google and Meta for the last 30 days, broken down by week." A true cross-channel view without touching a spreadsheet.
"Which Meta campaigns have rising CPA week over week? List the top five and the size of the increase." Spot the campaigns quietly draining budget before they do real damage.
"What are my top 10 Google Ads search terms by spend that produced zero conversions in the last 14 days?" Find wasted spend you can cut today.
"If I moved 20 percent of budget from my worst-performing Meta ad set to my best Google campaign, what would that look like based on recent performance?" A reallocation gut-check grounded in your own numbers.
"Summarize total ad spend, revenue, and blended ROAS across Google and Meta this month versus last month." A monthly recap in one sentence instead of one meeting.
"Which channel is driving more new-customer revenue right now, Google or Meta?" The strategic question your dashboards make hard to answer.
Because Claude can also see your Shopify, GA4, and Klaviyo data through the same connection, you can push further and tie ad performance back to actual store revenue and customer behavior, not just platform-reported conversions.
A note on safety: reads, writes, and the approval queue
It is fair to be cautious about giving an AI assistant access to accounts that spend real money. Commerce365 is built around that concern. The tools fall into two categories. Read tools fetch data and never change anything; every example prompt above is read-only. Write tools, the ones that could pause a campaign or adjust a budget, always pass through an explicit approval step before anything happens.
In practice that means Claude can propose an action, but you confirm it. Nothing changes in your live ad accounts without your sign-off. The same principle powers Commerce365's autonomous agents, which monitor your data around the clock and surface proposed actions through an approval queue rather than acting on their own. You stay in control while the system does the watching.
